This Labor Day Weekend, we decided to clean out all those mysterious boxes lurking in the back of the garage. We found a box I’d inherited, and in there were four beautiful bowls.

These were my grandfather’s. He worked on the Northern Pacific Railroad and somehow acquired them. The pattern is Garnet, and they’re evidently rather rare.

I spoke to a dealer of railroad china, and he made me an impressive offer.

Now’s the difficult part. Decidions! Should we sell them, or do we keep them and hand them down to the kids. They’re so pretty, yet that amazing pricetag …

4 Stars from The Romance Reviews’ CozyReader

Ms. Breck’s SCANDALOUS L.A. DESIRES is a heartwarming romance that will have
you tearing up at some point in this story. The emotional journey that both of
the characters go through is heart breaking. Trust is something that both
characters had difficulty with, but I’m sorry I could not blame Lindsey. The
type of lifestyle that Dante lived was not of a saint but then again he was not
in a committed relationship so he could go out with whomever he wanted.

Ms. Breck’s writing is superb. Considering the length of this …

This is a post from Romantic Times magazine

Get fit and get inspired with the second annual round of Romance Biggest Winner. In this program, authors and readers team up to encourage each other to make 2012 their healthiest year yet. Today Helen Seeley talks about what participants can expect and then we hear from several of the authors that will also be joining in the fun of the weight loss program’s second round.

Every year the number one resolution is to lose weight and get healthy. Gym memberships go up, attendance is high. By February thirty percent …

No, this is not me – but some day soon…

I’m so excited. Just by following four of the five resolutions I made (number five doesn’t start until March) I dropped 3 ½ lbs this week. I know it’s that first week of losing water weight, and chances of this kind of loss are atypical (and not too healthy!) But I’m very excited, nonetheless.

True to my promise of allowing myself to shop when I reach my weekly goal of two pounds, I jumped online and ordered a pot of my favorite face cream. Gotta keep the skin tight!

This …

A friend sent me the link to Jimmy Thomas’ personal trainer
site. I browsed around for nearly an hour and found all kinds of helpful things. Diets and cooking tips, exercises, self-defense tips. I’m really impressed by how much he has available.

This I found very interesting: Peanuts, are actually  legumes, like beans and peas, and as most also believe, on the contrary, peanuts and peanut butter, eaten in moderation won’t make you fat. The paragraph goes on to explain more, but I bolted to the kitchen and made myself some peanut butter apple slices. Yummy!

Check out the website, …

I finally made it to my aunt’s apartment yesterday to put her Christmas decorations away. I think I got the bad end of the deal, though. Our other relatives who put up all the decoration went Christmas-Crazy in November, and filled every flat surface with stuff, took down pictures from the walls and hung more stuff, and generally turned her apartment into a scene from a holiday version of The Hoarders.

But I was smiling as I went about the three-hour task of putting everything back into its little box, putting that in a bigger box, and finding room in …

Oh my goodness, we ran all day yesterday, cleaned the house, paid bills. By the time we sat down at 8 PM, we were both tired and hungry. So we ordered a pizza.

As you may know, we’ve been trying to get healthy, lose weight, increase our stamina. But after two weeks of really being good, we decided to give in to the temptation.

It’s important to do that, sometimes. Denying myself constantly doesn’t seem to work when I’m losing weight. Every once in a while, I need to indulge.

As a concession to the yummy, greasy, cheesy pizza, I …

I’ve found a new beverage that does triple duty. It fills me up, curbs my sweet craving, and rehydrates.

I add about 12 ounces of club soda (charge water, sparkling mineral water) to about four ounces of fruit juice. Pineapple is my favorite, but I use whatever I have in the house. Hubby bought a bottle of tart red cherry juice after his men’s health magazine said it has amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s very sour, but not too bad when diluted with fuzzy water.

I’ve been drinking a glass of watered juice before each meal. It fills me …
